Newt Gingrich speaking about Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on Fox News with Chris Wallace.
Upon seeing this, Gonzales said to himself "Maybe I should resign", and then proceeded to slap himself silly.

Move Over News, Propaganda TV is Here
Iran is going to launch a 24 hour News Channel to curb Western dominance on information in the world. The channel is called Press TV. Well, what type of channel is this Press TV, and how will they gain the world's trust? Easy answer, just ask the current President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad:Press TV should stay beside the oppressed people of the world ... Broadcasting the truth immediately, providing precise analysis and exposing the plots of propaganda networks of the enemy is among its duties."It's funny he mentioned the channel should stay "beside the oppressed people of the world" when in fact the Iranian people are oppressed. Not only that, but the government is operating in a propaganda campaign at the moment. The Iranian government is right now arresting dual Iranian-American citizens for espionage. A recent tool of the Iranian propaganda machine is to use forced confessions on TV.
Iran in the past has allegedly forced detainees to incriminate themselves publicly on television. Is this what we can expect from the new Iranian News channel? Will their slogan be "Humane and Free"? At least we will get some comic relief every now and then :
Most recently in March, British sailors detained by Tehran for allegedly entering Iranian territory appeared in videos during their captivity. Britain accused Iran of using the sailors for propaganda by putting them on TV, where they said they trespassed in Tehran's waters. The crew was freed after two weeks.
You can tell that Iran is feeling a little beleaguered these days when there are reports that Tehran may be under attack from rodents! The Squirrel Revolutionists! I bet they were staging a coup! Even Comical Ali couldn't have pulled that one off.
That is what the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported this week, that police had, ahem, "arrested" 14 squirrels on charges of espionage.

The Gonzales Chapter
What's wrong with a little Government Spying.
Now, for some comic relief, Attorney General Gonzales.
Rumsfeld saw this and remarked how nice it is to see there is competition for being the most hated person in America.
July 29 (Bloomberg) -- Senator Arlen Specter said details he will get tomorrow on a government surveillance program will help determine whether he'll back appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate Attorney General Alberto Gonzales's congressional testimony.
Gonzales came under a new round of criticism last week over what some lawmakers said were contradictions in statements about the debate within the Bush administration regarding a terrorist surveillance program. Senate Democrats have asked for appointment of a special counsel to look into whether the attorney general lied under oath.

Kasparov on Putin

The following is a article on the Russian president Putin by the chairman of United Civil Front of Russia, Garry Kasparov. If you don't know who he is, you should. He is an active member in Russian politics, in opposition to Putin's government. He tells of a Russia that is corrupted and abusive to not only it's citizens but to other nations. Below is a sample of what Kasparov has to say about the current government of Russia:
Mr. Putin's government is unique in history. This Kremlin is part oligarchy, with a small, tightly connected gang of wealthy rulers. It is partly a feudal system, broken down into semi-autonomous fiefdoms in which payments are collected from the serfs, who have no rights. Over this there is a democratic coat of paint, just thick enough to gain entry into the G-8 and keep the oligarchy's money safe in Western banks. Here is a link to the Google news search engine, click on the story "Don Putin" by the Wall Street Journal. You should be able to view it there.

Al Qaeda to attack Iran
On July 8th, the Al Qaeda Iraqi leader Abu Omar al-Baghdadi posted news that attacks on Iran would be swift if Iran continued to meddle in Iraqi's affairs. This should be mixed news for the United States. What will we do when a state that supports terrorism and extremism is attacked by a terrorist group? Stand by or will we sit down and work on a compromise? Iran said they will defend against any aggression towards its state by Al Qaeda.

Rocky road ahead for Thompson, McCain already breaking down
Fred Thompson's past has just came up again, with results that could be harmful mattering on how the media reacts to it. Apparently, Thompson was close to the Nixon camp during the Watergate scandal, even though he had the appearance of a heavy hitter on the investigating panel. This added with the fact that he has a lobbying past will be brought up (by opponents and/or Democrats), which might ruin his run for President. We'll see how this turns out for him and his chances. If this blows over, he still has a shot at being number one in the race. Yet again, like I said before, he needs to seriously start campaigning and start going to debates before he ends up a "what if" candidate.
McCain has experienced the first stages of his second failed presidential election campaign. Two of his top advisors have resigned, marking the beginning of the end for his campaign. He is lagging in polls, lagging in respect from his party (for his immigration stance), and the public (for his support of the army surge). McCain is done for, yet again, there is always a spot for vice presidency right? Mitt Romney is next to go, just wait.
One down, another waiting to rise.
